Medium.com is a website for writers and for readers. It’s filled with every type of content you could possibly imagine. Yes, including smutty short stories and articles about sex. Everyone is welcome!

Do you need a paid membership to read on Medium?
No. Not necessarily.
Without a paid membership, you can read some stories for free. You can read three stories for free each month without even signing up for a free membership. If you sign up for a free membership, you can read five stories a month.
After you go through those five stories though, you won’t be able to read stories or articles in full.
But if you get a paid membership for only $5/month or $50/year you can read all the stories and articles you want. The best part? NO ADS! No pop ups, no sidebar ads, nothing intrusive to detract from your reading pleasure. You’ll never want to look at another website again! Well, you might, but you won’t like having to deal with the advertising again.
As an additional bonus, you can support writers you love. Each time you read a story, part of the cost of your membership goes to the writer. Sometimes it is a little; sometimes as much as a couple dollars.
And when you join through someone specific, they’ll get a portion of your membership fee every single month, even if you don’t happen to read any of their stories.

Why is Medium good for writers?
I’ll be honest – Medium has one of the best communities for writers of all kinds but especially for writers of steamy stories. And for writers of personal essays about sex. Readers and writers will read your work. They comment. They share on social media (especially Twitter).
It’s a great place to become a writer.
If you write on Amazon or other retailers, you can even promote your other work on Medium. You can include a link in your bio or in your stories.
You don’t need to be a paid member to write on Medium, but if you want to make money by joining the Medium Partner Program (MPP), you’ll need to write for free a little bit first. You can request to join the MPP after you have more than 100 followers. Not as hard as you might think to get there.
But as a writer, I like to know that I am supporting other writers when I read their work. $5/month or $50/year is a small amount to pay to be part of such an awesome community.
